Centric FCU History
1937 – 1991
Beginning in 1937 as Brown Paper Company Service to Mill Employees, the credit union had a small outreach but had dreams of eventually reaching more.

1992-2004
After taking the position of CEO of the credit union in 1992, Chris Craighead quickly cast vision in order to expand the credit union.
From credit union mergers to the Thomas Road center opening, the new millennium saw the credit union as an up-and-coming financial institution. With the turn of the millennium, the credit union opened two new centers, the Arkansas Road Center and a Monroe Center

•
2005 - 2007
The credit union’s recognition grew with Board Chairman Joe Phillips being named Director of the Year.
2008
The credit union debuted a new, more open branch design along with a new name, Centric.

2010
Shortly after the changes, in 2010, M.E. ‘Red’ Craighead and Freida Massingale were inducted into LCUL Hall of Fame.
2012 - 2014
As Centric’s reputation and membership grew, more space was needed. The need for space and growth is why, in 2013, Centric saw three new centers open: the University Center, the Mortgage Center, and the Ruston Center.

The continuous growth also resulted in the Centric being awarded the Prestigious T.H. Scott Award.
2015 – 2019
Centric has continued to strive to give its members the best service possible which is why Live Better, a financial wellness community outreach program, was launched in 2016. Live Better has been successful in educating members and local businesses on important financial issues and has helped the community tremendously. The growth Centric continues to see is monumental which is why it had to expand beyond its four centers and held its grand opening of the Pecanland Center at the beginning of 2019.

In the Summer of 2019, Centric continued expansions with the opening of its new Corporate Headquarters in West Monroe.
2023
In January 2023, Centric expanded its field of membership to 26 additional underserved parishes/counties in Louisiana and Arkansas. With this expansion, we intend to positively impact the lives of additional prospective members and underserved area residents who before now, would not have been eligible to join the credit union.
Centric introduced Sprout, our financial education mascot, in March 2023. Sprout serves as an ambassador for learning about the importance of saving and instilling good financial habits at an early age.
A groundbreaking was held in April for our MidCity Center that will be located in the heart of Monroe’s business district on the corner of Louisville Avenue and N. 18th Street. MidCity Center is slated to open in early 2024.
